American Landscapes And Culture: Hot Springs, Arkansas
Hot Springs, Arkansas is a well-known city in the Ouachita Mountains of southwestern Arkansas. Hernando DeSoto is said to have visited this area in 1541 where natural warm springs emerge from the mountain that forms the backbone of this town. Hot Sorings National Reserve was formed in 1832 by an act of Congress and became a national park in 1921. Bathhouse Row forms a historical boulevard of preserved architecture from the Gilded Age. Most of the structures are preserved and used by the National Park Service. These photographs celebrate Hot Springs National Park and the city in which the park is located.
